Jason G. Barnett was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in a lower middle class blue collar neighborhood of Haverhill, Massachusetts. After graduating from Haverhill High School, Mr. Barnett obtained an academic scholarship to attend the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and graduated in 1991 with honors (Cum Laude). While at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Mr. Barnett distinguished himself academically and was selected to become a member of the oldest and most prestigious academic fraternity, Phi Beta Kappa. Upon graduation from college, Mr. Barnett attended the University of Miami School of Law and graduated in 1994 with honors (Cum Laude). While attending law school, Mr. Barnett distinguished himself academically and was selected to become the law clerk for the Honorable Judge Amy Dean of the 11th Judicial Circuit for the State of Florida. During his last year of law school, Mr. Barnett was given a full scholarship and selected from thousands of law students throughout the United States to be part of the prestigious State of Florida Legislative Intern Program. While working as a legislative intern, Mr. Barnett worked hand in hand with the General Counsel for the Florida Legislature and was actively involved in complex litigation, including cases ultimately argued before the Florida Supreme Court.

After graduating from law school in 1994, Mr. Barnett worked as an associate attorney at the AAA rated law firm of Miller, Kagan, Rodriguez and Silver, P.A. practicing exclusively in the area of workers’ compensation law. In order to expand his practice areas, in 1996 Mr. Barnett opened his own boutique law firm specializing in the legal areas of workers’ compensation, personal injury litigation, Social Security Disability (SSD/SSI), Longshore and Harbor Act, Land Base Act, veterans administration benefits, The Fair Standard Labor Act for wage and hour violations, and wrongful and retaliatory discharge. Jason G. Barnett is a member of the Florida Bar, the Federal Bar for the Southern District of Florida, the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Florida Bar, and the American Bar Association.

The Law Offices of Jason G. Barnett, P.A. has grown to a four attorney law firm practicing in the above legal areas in the State of Florida and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
